Airplane General Flashcards
How does the Flight Deck door respond to pressurization decompression events?
- The door features two decompression panels allowing air to vent from the Passenger Cabin into the Flight Deck in the event of a rapid decompression in the Flight Deck.
- In the event of a Passenger Cabin decompression, the entire Flight Deck door may open, permitting Flight Deck air to vent into the Passenger Cabin.
*If the Flight Deck door opens during a Pax Cabin Decompression, the door will not latch normally but may be deadbolted shut
Can the Flight Deck door be deadbolted?
Yes
What is the purpose of the FDAS system?
Allows entry into the Flight Deck from the Passenger Cabin in the event of an emergency such as pilot incapacitation.
*The Flight Deck Access System (FDAS), an emergency access panel, with a chime module, three-position door lock selector, two indicator lights, and an access system switch.
Once closed (with DC bus No. 2 powered), the door automatically with no further crew action required.
The FDAS also allows entry to the Flight Deck from the Passenger Cabin
in the event of an emergency, such as pilot incapacitation.
When will the over-wing emergency exits lock?
A minimum of 3 of the 4 entry / service doors are closed.
Either engine is running.
The aircraft air / ground logic indicates that the aircraft is in the air or both thrust levers are advanced to the takeoff position.
*The emergency exits unlock when any of the above conditions is not met, or DC power is lost
How is the failure of the over-wing emergency exit Flight Lock System indicated?
MAINT light,
OVERHEAD System Annunciator, and
MASTER CAUTION lights illuminate.
*Inhibited from first engine start until 30 sec. after landing
When will the emergency exit lights illuminate?
When the electrical power to DC bus number 1 fails, or if AC power has been removed.
If the pilot has commanded the emergency exit lights to illuminate by selecting the Emergency Exit Light switch to ON.
Selected by the FA at the AFT Attendant Panel.
Can the Aft Attendant Panel EMERGENCY EXIT LIGHTS switch override Flight Deck Control?
Yes, lifting the guard and pushing the switch ON overrides the Flight Deck control and illuminates the Emergency Exit Lights (even if the Flight Deck EMER EXIT LIGHTS switch is positioned to OFF).
What is the purpose of the MUTE switch on the INTERNET?
When depressed, data may be received, but not transmitted.
Selected when de-icing or when taxiing underneath a bridge, to prevent radiation from being directed toward personnel.
What conditions must be met in order for the AC-powered air compressor in the Potable Water System to operate?
Elec. air compressor powered from main bus 1, and supplies press. to potable water tank.
When pressure in the water tank is less than 30psig
CAB / UTIL switch is ON.
*Disabled when the access door is open or removed.
How is the crew oxygen mask microphone activated?
Right Oxygen Mask Door open.
(removing mask from stowage box enables microphone. Transmission selection is made on ACP)
How is the PASS OXYGEN system activated?
Manually selecting the PASS OXYGEN switch ON
- When the PASS OXYGEN switch is set to NORMAL, the system is automatically activated at a cabin altitude above 14,000 feet.
- The masks may be manually deployed by inserting a slender tool/object (paper clip) into the recess on the PSU door.
*elec. power is removed from in seat power system when cabin alt >14,000’ or PASS OXYGEN switch is selected ON
Approximately how long does oxygen flow when the Passenger Oxygen System is activated?
12 minutes.
