Audits + service evaluations Flashcards
what are the 7 steps in conducting a research study?
- Identify a problem and review previous studies*
- Formulate a question to address a gap in the evidence*
- Select a study design appropriate to this question
- Sample/select participants/data sources*
- Collect data/measure variables*
- Analyse and interpret the analysis findings*
- Disseminate the study’s results
what are the 3 types of studies which help support health care development + assessment ?
1) research- require ethics + governance
2) audit
3) service evaluation
define research study
Generates new knowledge, where there is limited research evidence available and which has the potential to be generalisable/ transferable.
define audit study
a quality improvement process that seeks to improve patient care and outcomes through systematic review of care against explicit criteria and the implementation of change.
define clinical audit
Measures existing practice against evidence-based clinical standards
define service evaluation
