IG responsibilities ?
investigating CORRUPT or Criminal activity or CONFLICTS of interest

IG NOTIFICATIONS:
C.C.C.M.M C-corruption C-criminal activity C-conflicts of interest M-misconduct M-mismanagement
by: City agencies, City officers, employees, person or businesses dealing with the city
During NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS, notifications should be made directly to the IG OFFICE.
IN CASESE OF EMERGENCY, the IG’s on call supervisor contacted via FDOC (EMERGENCY)
Examples of IG notifications:
- theft of city property
- acceptance of bribe or gratuity by employee or person dealing with the City
- improper procurement of pension benefits
- conflict of interest by employee or person dealing with city
- false claims of off duty injuries occurring on duty
- falsification of FDNY records
- theft during Fire Ops , inspectional activities or from quarters, IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION (AS SOON AS FIRE/EMERGENCY PERMIT) TO IG—BY IC via cellular phone to FDOC
NOTIFICATION TO BITS:
IMMEDIATE notification to BITS should be made without delay be telephone …during business hours, made to BITS…after business hours, FDOC
A.B.C.D A-arrest/alcohol (drugs) B-Boxing with brothers C-controntaion with civilians/dept. members/PD/government agencies D-dangerous misuse of Dept. Vehicles
Note: BITS is always IMMEDIATE (IG only immediate , for EMERGENCY)
WRITTEN NOTIFICATION to BITS ?
I.M.M.A.C
I-Incompetence-so serious, disciplinary action is warranted
M-misconduct by Dept. employee, not falling under IG
M-misuse/misappropriation of Dept. time
A-arrest FOLLOW UP
C-charges against a member
No FD employee shall make any notification to any superior OFFICER or any other announcement regarding the entry or presence of the IG in any facility….
unless so directed by IG
NO ANNOUNCEMENT, unless IG says so
