AUC 231/ Battalion Padlock Flashcards
Large padlocks with hardened shackles issued to BATTALIONS to secure premises
Each lock has a Gravoply Tag attached to the shackle with the following inscription :
‘PROPERTY OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT’
CITY OF NEW YORK
TO HAVE REMOVED TELEPHONE
(APPROPRIATE BOROUGH PHONE #)
When Battalion is ready to leave the scene of operations, prior to arrival of PD these locks will be used in the following instance:
- COMMERCIAL PROPERTY
- VERY MINOR FIRE OR EMERGENCY HAD OCCURRED
- EGRESS gained through forced entry that was accomplished with MINIMAL DAMAGE (pad lock removed through the lock means)
- original padlock hasp and /or staples are in place , or there is a gate, similar device that can be easily secured with padlock
- no other damage to ENTIRE PERIMETER OF THE PREMISES
- nothing abnormal/unusual about premises or its contents
BC wil issue padlock and key to company at the scene
Company OFFICER will have premises secured with padlock as directed by BC
ON RETURN TO QUARTERS:
- DISPATCHER NOTIFIED
- JOURNAL ENTRY MADE
- KEY PLACED ON SECURE AREA OF APPARATUS
**Upon receipt of instructions from DISPATCHER that the owner or other appropriate person is at the premises the company shall respond to the premises as soon as practicable **(bluff:bc)
OFFICER will secure POSITIVE ID , have appropriate receipt signed and have padlock removed
any reasonable doubt of person’s identify , have PD RESPOND
-company will return lock and key to BC
On receipt of notification from a company that an FD padlock has been placed on a premises, dispatcher will notify PD for purpose of surveillance and notification of owner .
IDENTIFICATION OF POLICE OFFICIAL notified should be relayed to COMPANY OFFICER by dispatcher for fire report
-dispatcher maintains list of premises secured by companies
