Except where otherwise specifically noted, the activities outlined herein shall commence on?

- -REQUISITIONING OF SUPPLIES COMMENCE JULY 1ST

Following equipment shall be assembled in readiness and placed on company apparatus when snow or ice emergency is imminent, Phase A or B:
- AT LEAST 6 extra lengths of 2 1/2” hose, rolled or folded, on ENGINE AND LADDER
- 2 shovels (4 for use at quarters)
- containers of sand/salt
- vehicle recovery strap with shackle
- tire chains, spare links and link tool
- specialized hydrant connection set up as DETERMINED BY INDIVIDUAL COMMANDING OFFICERS
- RESERVE apparatus as well
- COMPANY COMMANDERS maintain minimum of 6 shovels for snow clearance in front of quarters (2 ON RIG)
supply of sand/salt from local DS storage depots
-CC shall avoid indiscriminate use of de-icers, such as crystallized salt
DRAIN TL’s, deck pipes, multiversals , manifolds and pumps after USE and FOLLOWING ROLL CALLS..
during EXTREME COLD WEATHER, units engaged in outside operations shall keep apparatus engines RUNNING to prevent congealing or diesel fuel
Cold weather/bad weather may deter persons from waiting at box..buildings tightly close will hid evidence of fire…
EXTEND SEARCH AFTER ARRIVAL AT BOX LOCATIONS
- test hydrants for frozen conditions
- examine siamese before stretching
During intermittent line operations, NOZZLES CRACKED SLIGHTLY to prevent freezing
Place water extinguishers in cab or other heated area
Do not raise aerial, UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY and retract ladders at the earliest opportunity
Drain and replace hose on apparatus at earliest opportunity

Units encountering FROZEN HYDRANTS shall place YELLOW DISK (only for hydrants…NOT SIAMESE) AND utilize HANSE HYDRANT APPLICATION to report frozen hydrants for transmittal to appropriate Thawing Apparatus…
Units Placing a YELLOW DISC on hydrant NOT in their Admin Area shall Promptly notify OFFICER ON DUTY who is administratively responsible for the hydrant. The notified Officer shall enter the frozen hydrant info. in the HANSEN HYDRANT APPLICATION
IF the hydrant has been thawed and pumped out, and it is determined that the frozen condition will recur due to a leaking valve or other defect, notify ______ by utilizing__________?

- clear sidewalk, hydrants near quarters , and roadway in front of quarters of ice and snow as frequently as necessary to maintain safety for pedestrians and members
- continuos observation of street conditions beyond front of quarters to nearest avenue shall be maintained to detect obstructions to response
- notify BC if conditions are beyond unit’s control
When conditions of streets are doubtful as to maneuverability, units shall use?

First arriving units, if necessary , advise incoming units by radio of suggested approach routes and the location of emergency or fire….when conditions found on arrival would SERIOUSLY HAMPER FIRE OPS, the __________ shall be notified via radio?
