Atp-pc System Flashcards
ATP-pc breakdown
Atp goes to ADP +P + energy
Pc goes to P+C + energy
Energy + P+ ADP goes to ATP
How long does it last?
8-10 seconds
Good for?
Short duration, high intensity events.
What is Lactate
Lactic acid dissociates into lactate and h+ ions in the blood.
Lactate/ anaerobic threshold
The workload at which the first increase in lactate above resting values is observed.
OBLA
onset blood lactate accumulation.
The rate of blood lactate removal.
OBLA/ Lactate sampling?
OBLA is the point where lactate starts to reduce your performance.
5 factors effect the rate of Lactate accumulation.
Excersise intensity
Muscle fibre tyre
Respiratory exchange ratio
Fitness if performer
Vo2 max
How does excersise intensity affect the rate of lactate accumulation?
OBLA occurs faster with high intensity activity’s because of the lactic acid production.
Muscles fibre effect on lactate accumulation
Slow twitch fibres produce less lactate due to presence of oxygen
Respiratory exchange ratio
The closer RER gets to 1 the more likely glycogen is being used anatomically - greater chance of accumulation.
Fitness of performer
Regular training creates adaptations which improve capacity for anaerobic respiration
Vo2 max
The higher Vo2 max the greater the delay in lactate accumulation.
