Athletics- throws Flashcards
Impulse
force x time
change in motion (momentum( of a body depends on magnitude of the net external force acting on it and time per which the force acts
Increasing impulse
time which the force is applied
force over constrained time period
air resistance
Trajectory and range of projectiles is affected by the force of the air
Drag: acts in direction of air flow
Lift: acts at right angle to drag
contributing factors- density of fluid, cross sectional area exposed to flow, velocity of body relative to fluid, smoothness of body , orientation of body to the flow
Kinetic chains
Biomechanics principle: skilled human motion involves sequencing of segmental rotations
Kinetic chain consists of a system of segmental links contributing to a movement
could be open or close
open kinetic chains
the most distal segment in the movement is free to move in space
closed kinetic chains
the most massive segment in the movement is located at the end of the kinetic chain and the least massive is located at the fixed end
