ATA 67 - FLIGHT CONTROLS Flashcards
If one hydraulic system is lost, what is the effect on the displacement force?
It’s reduced by 50%, giving a noticable change to the pilot.
How many Hydraulic systems are on the H145?
2
Where is the hydraulic unit located?
On the upper deck.
How many control rods are connected to the mixing lever?
- Collective, lateral, longditudinal
What is the purpose of the mixing lever?
to transfer signals from the control rods to the swashplate
What is responsible for moving the actuator boost piston?
The spool valve
What connects the swashplate gimbal to the control ring?
Two bearings
Who is responsible for adjusting the collective friction?
The engineer
How is the parallel actuator magnetic clutch powered?
Electrically. It opens when energised
What happens when the electromagnetic clutch is energised in the parallel actuator?
It causes a seperation of the primary gear to the secondary gear
What is the parallel DC motor conected to?
The primary reducer, before the clutch.
What is the PAO damper?
PILOT ASSISTED OSCILLATIONS damper
What is the purpose of the PAO damper?
It dampens unintended control inputs of the pilot due to possible oscillating ground resonance behaviors.
If the pilot was to feel oscillations in the controls, what would need inspected?
The PAO damper.
What position would the spool valve be in for both lines to be closed?
Neutral position.
Where are the collective control signals sent to?
the sliding sleeve of the swashplate assembly.
Where is the range stop for the cellective controls?
by a mechanical stop inside the hydraulic actuator.
If an actuator jams, what happenes when the pilot moves the controls?
more force is needed which then moves the spool sleeve and creates a bypass.
What is the purpose of the collective weight compensation?
it creates a force in the direction of “collective down”
What is installed incase of a mechanical blockage of the LVDT’s?
Shear pins are installed
What controls the DC motors of the parallel actuators?
the Electrical Unit Box
What is the flight control module frame made of?
milled aluminium
What is the displacement force of a main rotor actuator?
3150N
Which line is the maintenance port on?
Low Px line
What is the purpose of the check valve in the hydraluic actuators?
to block a reverse flow if the main rotor forces exeed the actuator forces.
What is the test button for?
verfication of free movement of the spool sleeve.
Facing FWD, which cyclic control lever is on the left?
lateral control.
Where is the flexball routed for the Yaw?
along the r/h side channel, up the inclined frame and then to the left upper side of the tail boom.
