Many things can lead to falls for a consumer, including: *vision and hearing problems *impaired balance or awareness *reduced strength *alcohol or drug use *seizures *medications *poor hydration or nutrition *household hazards
What can you do to exercise fall prevention?
Encourage a consumer to:
- Wear his or her glasses and hearing aids *Do strengthening or balance exercises
- Use needed assistive devices
- Get up slowly after lying or sitting down.
- Reduce fall hazards in the home
- Have medications reviewed by their medical provider
- Wear good walking shoes.
