• CBD = central = closer to tourist attractions = more investment form council to attract tourists e.g. £1bil in st james quarter
• vice versa for suburbs = more well-mantained CBD

  this is bc:
• w/in there r many UNESCO heritage site e.g. ross fountain, wojteck bear, scott monument
• = no development on open spaces & green spaces present must be well mantained e.g. princes street garden
• not many tourists visit r-u fringe, talk abt public parks fig 4
