Outcomes of the Salford Quays development

  2. Number of people aged 23 - 34 (young people) increased by 12,700 between 2011 and 2021. This is beneficial as young people are more likely to spend disposable income in the local economy.

Q

What has made the development of Salford Quays controversial?

A

It is likely that the influx of young professionals who are attracted to the area due to the student accommodation as well as jobs in media may cause gentrification. This may result in lower-income residents being priced out to accommodate more younger people.
