Define the Legislative Branch
The Legislative Branch makes the laws and has two houses
-The senate
-The house of reps
Congress
The name of our Legislative branch
Senate
The Senate has 100 members and is a house in the Legislative Branch.
In the Senate, the term lasts 6 years but every 2 years, 1/3 of the Senate is up for reelection. The vice president helps with tie breakers and the Senate is EQUAL REPS
House of Reps
the House has 435 members and each state get gets 2 reps to go to the Senate. The house takes the cences. The house can BEGIN the impeachment process. The house is PROPORTIONAL REPS. the term, for two years and can be considered for relection
Majority Leader
Leader of the Majority party which is republican now. Gets the most votes usually
Minority Leader
Leader of the minority party and is not democrate.
Congressional Record
This is where the congress documents all of it’s important speeches that happen. This way people can look back on what was said
Term
This is how long someone is elected for. For example, the president is on a 4 year term
President Pro Tempore
This person is elected by the Majorty party. They serve as the president for absence. This is a honor for older people in the senate
Speaker of the House
The speaker of the house is the president of the House of Reps
Census
A count of the population every 10 years by the House of Reps
Impeachment
This is the process in which a congressmen is getting the boot. It first has to go through the House and then the Senate acts as the court to see if they really deserve to get the boot
Bicameral
This is the two chambers (Senate and the house of reps)

The bigger party
Minority
The smaller party

- At LEAST 25 years old
- Must be a US citizen for at least 7 years
