ARTHROGRAPHY/TENOGRAPHY Flashcards
1
Q
ARTHROGRAPHY
A
- uses conrast injected into a joint to demonstrate abnormalities not evident in radiographs
- normal finding is smooth surface around the joint
2
Q
positive contrast
A
iodinated radiopaque material
3
Q
negative constrast
A
air
4
Q
when to use ankle arthrography
A
- soft tissue trauma (joint capsule, ligament)
- osteochondaral defects
- loose bodies
5
Q
Abnormal findings
A
- extravasation of contrast beyond the confines of the joint
- Calcaleal fibular ligament tear w/ contrast in peroneal tendon sheath
6
Q
tenography:
A
-uses contrast injected into TENDON sheaths to diagnose inflammatory or posttraumtic conditions
7
Q
what tendons are being examined if injected lateral, medial, anterior groups?
A
- lateral:peroneus longus and brevis
- medial: TP, FDL,FHL
- anterior: TA,EDL,EHL
