16
Q

what % of psoriatic patient have psoriatic Arthritis

A

10%

17
Q

What is gout Assoc with

A

Urate metabolism ie hyperuricaemia

18
Q

What synthesising urine

A

Purine catabolism

So hyperuricaemia due to abnormal purine metabolism

19
Q

What cause urea excretion

A

Renal filtration, reabsorbed in proximal tubule

20
Q

What causes increase production of urea

A

Normally idiopathic

21
Q

What causes reduced excretion of urea

A

Chronic renal disease

Drug side effect: Thiazide diuretics

22
Q

What is the clinical manifestation of hyperuricaemia

A

Deposition of soft tissue - gouty tophus

Secondary degenerative change in the joint

23
Q

What causes pseudo gout

A

Calcium pyrophosphate

24
Q

What joint is most commonly affected in septic arthritis

A

Knee

25
Q

What is the mechanism of speed in septic arthritis

A

Haematogenous spread

26
Q

gonorrhoeae septic arthritis

A

Think of STI

27
Q

What is the definition of septic arthritis

A

Inflammation of joint space caused by infection

Can be blood borne organisms

28
Q

What are the causes of septic arthritis

A

S.aureus
Strep
Gonorrhoea
H.Influenza

29
Q

Ix of septic arthritis

A

JOINT ASPIRATION

Also: x ray for fractures, exclude crystals

30
Q

Treatment for septic arthritis

A

Give empirical antibiotics before joint aspiration
FLUCLOX
Less than 5 years old” add cetriazone for h. Influenza
Adjust organisms when confirmed
1-2 weeks IV , oral for 4- 6 weeks

31
Q

What are the viral causes of arthritis

A

Hep b

Rubella
