Lady Macbeth asks Macbeth a rhetorical question to get inside his head and provoke him to murder Duncan. Lady Macbeth argues to the fact she secretly knows Macbeth wants to commit this act but is too much of a coward to do so. This moment reveals her understanding of Macbeth’s internal conflict. She knows her ambition and is trying to gain his courage. This will foreshadow the tragic events that will follow due to ambition.
