Composition; how does that artist arrange the elements.
Balance; symmetry, asymmetry. Rules of thirds,Golden ratio
Light; strong or general contrasts.
Space; sense of depth, Linenar or aerial prespective
Scale; does this affect the impact of the work.

can be used as tone. repetition in a symmetrical work.

Foundation of art- most versatile of the elements.
can suggest shape, pattern, form, structure, growth, depth, movement and emotion
Types of lines and the emotional impact they have
curved lines= comfort and ease
Horizontal lines= calm and control
Vertical lines=height and strength
Jagged lines =turmoil and anxiety
Name the types of lines
Straight

Contour lines
Gesture lines

Gives the illusion of motion and fluidity
Contour lines
lines that define the outline of a shape using minimal detail
Gesture lines
Lines that show movement, particularly of characters in an artwork
Expressive Lines
lines that show feelings and emotions. scream- wavy lines in contrast with a strong straight diagonal line portrays anxiety
Continuous lines
When a drawing is done at one go without ever lifting it from the page- expressive and energetic
Hatching
Parallel or cross hatching lines are used to create texture, volume, shading or patterns. Often used one at a time and create tone.
What is tone?
Tone defines the lightness or darkness of a colour. Can be used to create the illusion of form. create contrasts of light and dark (chiuroscuro)
What is atomspheric Perspective
Tone which is used to create a sense of depth and distance
( tone value of a coluor gets paler in the distance, with colour, it turner more blue.)
Tone to describe atmosphere
it can create a dramatic of tranquil atmosphere.
