Fulfilling your essence, which is what you are predestined to do, the thing that you tend towards.
What was Aristotle’s overall ideas of ethics?
He developed virtue ethics. You do things because they are virtuous, like being courageous. Ethics is about being a good citizen, about striving towards excellence.
What did Aristotle think about young and old people in terms of ethics?
Young people are too impulsive and subject to desires, whereas old people are too steadfast and sure of their way of doing things.
How did Aristotle’s views on reincarnation differ from Plato?
He thought that we were not reincarnated, while Plato thought that we became an animal if we did not work towards improving ourselves through philosophy.
Is Plato or Aristotle more aligned to Protestantism or Catholicism?
Plato is more of the protestant mentality, there is a sanctity that we cannot reach, whereas Catholics believe in finding God in all things, in nature, where there is a sense of the divine through their divine essence.
What does Aristotle think of reason?
Because humans are the only animals that can reason, this is related to our telos, our essence, for which we can achieve by reasoning. He thought that vida contemplita was the best life, we need to exercise our ergon.
What did Aristotle think about the pleasure?
It is not self-sufficient, it cannot be the goodness because we are unable to find the other parts of goodness.
