  • Prince Henry the Navigator - sailing around Africa, controlled trade post empire - caravels, and new maps
  • Spain wanted trade money so sent Columbus to create new trade route
  • Columbus landed in San Salvador, showed the gold he found to Spain and people began sailing to Americas
