APS Groundschool day 4 Flashcards
Icing conditions occur when:
- OAT or TAT is +10 degrees and below, AND
- Visible moisture, OR
- Visibility is 1,600 METER or less, OR
- Standing water, slush or snow
Swithing OFF EAI (engine anti ice) when (temperature)
During climb an cruise with SAT below -40 degrees
note! during descent it must be on, because of the low power setting
What is the usual holding speed
Vclean / Vup + 10 knots
Vertical windshear
a change of horizontal wind direction and/of speed with height, as would be determined by means of two or more anemometers mounted at different height on a single mast
Horizontal windshear
a change of horizontal wind direction and/of speed with horizontal distance, as would be determined by two or more anemometers mounted at the same height along the runway
Know the following memory items
- Engine fire, severe damage or separation
- Emergency descent
- Cabin altitude warning or rapid decompression
- Unreliable airspeed
- Engine limit, surge or stall
- Aborted Engine Start
- Takeoff configuration warning
On ground engine fire memory items, who does what?
- Autothrottle disengage –> Captain
- Thrust lever close –> Captain
- Engine start lever cutoff –> Captain
- Engine fire switch pull –> FO
- Engine fire switch rotate –> FO
In flight engine fire memory items, who does what?
- Autothrottle disengage –> PF
- Thrust lever close –> PF
- Engine start lever cutoff –> FM
- Engine fire switch pull –> FM
- Engine fire switch rotate –> FM
Failure management table (3 items + 2/3)
1 = Fly --> Controlling Aircraft --> Manage inner state 2 = Action --> Assess --> Action --> Contain 3 = Manage --> Time --> Decision making
When are you time critical
- uncontained fire/smoke (when it is not under control)
- any situation where fuel becomes critical
When you are time critical, do the following 5 steps:
1 = make a 3D plan (short term decision) 2 = inform ATC 3 = set up the approach (descent procedure) 4 = inform cabin crew / purser 5 = do the non normal checklist (as far as possible)
Wat zijn de indicaties bij Engine Flameout
- you still have N1 rotation (belangrijk)
- engine failure indication
Wat zijn de indicaties bij Engine Separation
Geen indicaties (no FF, EGT, N1,)
Wat zijn de indicaties bij Engine Severe Damage
- NO N1 rotation (belangrijk)
- Engine failure indication
The three decision making models are used (+ voorbeeld)
- Analytical decision making –> apply reasoning and logic, for example hyd failure
- Rule Based decision making –> based on set rules (QRH, SOP etc)
- Naturalistic decision making –> dependend on expierence, technical and crm competences. for example last minute RWY changes
