Speed brakes estimating to slow down
- no speed brakes = 1 nm for 10 kts level and 1000ft/min
- with speed brakes is half
Flaps and gear extension
- flap extension speed = green dot speed or + 10 for ice (STALL prot is auto)
- When not possible to decelerate to Green Dot,Green Dot + 20 KIAS
- flaps 5 burns 22 lbs less than a flaps FULL landing.
- consider full flaps for slippery and stall prots speed
Approach conduct
- If cleared to intercept final, but not for the ILS, it is recommended to use LNAV or alternatively display VOR or LOC and arm it by pressing NAV Button.If cleared to intercept the final course/track (e.g., approach clearance not yet issued), for ILS, RNAV,
- RNP, or LPV approaches, arm LNAV by pressing the LNAV button. Select APPR when the approach clearance is received.
Approach Conduct without FMS
- preview mode
- tune and identify
- FAF and distance to be there
- If a go around is performed, the PF asks for HDG lateral mode at 400 ft. The PM is responsible to hard
- tune radios and set courses according to the missed approach profile.
VAP speeds
- VAP = VREF + 1/2 steady headwind component + gust increment
- max 20 min 0 or +5
VAC speeds
- For landings in abnormal conditions, set VAC equal to the higher between the new VREF and VAC from the approach and landing speeds table.
initial approach
- no heads down
- 3 - 2 = 3000fpm, 2-1 = 2000fpm, 1 - 0 - 1000fpm
- 2nm FAF APPR
- DGRAD use raw data
- 30 NM activate vectors available
- Let ATC know about temp for vertical separation
- Hands on control at 2500 FT
Lov vis ops
- regs, lighting, exits, procedures review in brief
- approved for single engine CAT 2
Malfunctions
- blw 1000 AGL pilot needs to do something go around
- downgraded approach must be decided before 500 AGL
- roll jam > 500 procedure complete and AT fail < 500 can continue the approach
Stable Approach Criteria
Constant: angle, rate and profile to touchdown zone:
- Bank < 25 degrees
- Landing config
- Thrust stablizd at idle
- stable Descent rate: =< 1000 fpm
- speed +15/-5
- Deviations for weather
stable approach gates
- landing config
- checklist complete
- Vapp + 15 slowing
- < 25 degrees bank
500 AAE
- thrust stable at idle
- wing level
- within one dot
- <1000 fpm
- speed +10/-5
Note:
1. Attempt to make Final flap selected by 1500 AAR
2. for CAT 2 Landing config before FAF
3. Atmospheric conditions should be momentary deviations
PM monitors these approach and landing barriers by call outs:
If deviations occur momentarily due to atmospheric
conditions:
“SPEED”
“SINK RATE”
“THRUST”
“ALTITUDE”
“CENTRELINE” or “LOCALIZER”
“TRACK”
“GLIDEPATH” or “GLIDESLOPE”
“PITCH” call if above 7.5 degrees on the FLARE
On Landing:
“DRIFTING”
“FLOATING”
“PITCH”
PF corrects the barriers by saying
“Correcting”
In any above is not met “GO - AROUND”
Precision approach
- Magenta then green
- preview helps capture
- activate or extend off
- degraded approach just the localizer can be used
ILS CAT 2
- PMA “This is a pilot monitored approach” brief from 80 ft > mins
- RA “RA is ___ FT , SET RA ___ FT”
- SRC right
- Flap 5, APPR 2, RSP brief
- Landing config by FAF
- CAT 2 checklist
- AP only to 80 ft
CAT 2 - Lsp sets up rsp briefs
Configuration during approach SA
base leg flaps 1
- maneuvering to intercept flaps 2
- one dot above gear down flaps 3
- GS intercept flaps 5
- Gear down and flaps 5 before FAF or 5nm from approach
PMA approach
- Similar to CAT 2 except for mins
- WX =< 100ft approach minima
- Operational restrictions apply to RSP xwind and contaminted
- CAT 2 is PMA
- “THIS WILL BE A PILOT MONITORED APPROACH.”
- 500 FT LSP gets his hand below the thrust
- MIns: “I HAVE CONTROL”, DIsenegage AP at 80 ft or “GO AROUND”
- No say by LSP, RSP iniates GO AROUND
Incepting GS from above
- PF recognize and state “Incepting GS from above”
- VS 2000 FPM
- Gear down
- Avoid Flap OVSP
- IMC GS not captured by FAF “GO AROUND”
False Glideslope Capture
- use FPA to verify
- GO AROUND is suspected
Non precisions App (NPA)
- LOC, LNAV, VOR = MDA + 50FT
- no step down passed FAF
- APV not SCDA approaches no 50FT added
- RNP****
VNAV Approach
- capture GP before FAF is possible to have stabilized app
- Set MDA once cleared but be in Magenta for protection
LOC APP
- Be in green to activate LOC
- green press LNAV for “LOC”
- set MDA + 50
- Know your VDA
- Call out 0.5, 0.2
- FPA____
- Mins no visual go around
- above 80 ft from mins, PM will call “VISUAL”
RNP AR APP*****
- checklist, Auto pilot, No MEL, NOTAMS, DA, FMS Database
- requested when practical
- RF legs - if discontinued, app flown laterally
- E2 is CAT C but porter policy to CAT D (250, 165, 265)
- Degraded go missed or RNP AR NOT AVAIL message cant do it
- RAIM prediction for <0.3
- Temp comp - not mandatory alt
- Crosscheck: waypoints, altitudes, track and distance
- Direct to Fix:
- Before FAF and not precede RF leg
- changing ALT or airspeed in initial, intermediate and missed app
- 3 degree angle when hitting IF get flap 1 and 2
- Plan 160 before FAF
- PM calls “VISUAL” if not GO AROUND at DA
- Consider“CONTINUE” call ca be done before MINS if runway in sight
- 0.1 or 0.3 mins 1 GPS on the app still continue not the beginning
PRM Precision Approach Radar
- Training been done
- no restrictions on PF
- normal app with AUTOPILOT + a Breakout procedure by MANUALLY FLOWN
- Break out procedure: ATC Turns are mandators even with TCAS
- Brreakout procedure: Disc AP, AT fly heading and altitude, PM sets it
- Reconfigure after VFS
