TAXI OUT Flashcards
Taxi Speeds
Straight line:
a) Dry surface: 30 kt; or
b) Wet or contaminated surface: adjust as appropriate for current conditions;
Note:
minimize brake wear - go to 20 kts then press
Thrust use - use idle and max 40% N1 if ever needed
Turns taxi speeds
a) dry surface: 10 kt; or
b) wet or contaminated surface: 5
visual when taxing out for:
FOD
Personnel
Equipment
Airplanes and vehicles
Enegines of planes ahead
Nosewheel steering to remember
The maximum steering angle of rudder pedal is +/- 7°
speeds above 10 kt, as it’s very responsive.
Let the airplane move a little forward before starting a turn and avoid stopping the airplane in a turn as excessive thrust
centre the nosewheel
make turns with the largest feasible turn radius possible
Minimize using thrust from outboard engine in 180° turn, particularly if outboard engine overhangs dusty areas next to the taxiway.
180-Degree Turn
ground speed around 5 kt.
Antiskid protection
is not provided below 10 kt, so apply
brakes accordingly.
