This lesion can be scraped off slightly, with some difficulty
White Coated Tongue
White lesion with a “Milk Curd/Cottage Cheese” appearance. May leave a red base when scraped off
Pseudomembranous candidiasis
This white lesion sometimes has a surface that appears to be peeling off
Morsicatio
This white lesion can have a Flimsy whiteness and as a result leaves normal looking mucosa when scraped off
Toothpaste/Mouthwash reaction
Examples of this white lesion could be a pizza burn or a hot pocket burn
Thermal burn
An example cause of this white lesion would be a cotton roll that was left in contact with the mucosa for too long
Sloughing traumatic lesion
This white lesion can sometimes be described as a mucous patch that may only partially be scraped off
Secondary syphilis
This lesion is a pseudomembrane of the oropharynx
