- He had already removed Italy from the League in 1937 after being condemned after Abyssinia (including their execution of c.30,000 Abyssinians in early 1937 for continued resistance)
- The Italian invasion of Albania took place on April 1939.
- BUT this invasion was viewed as an easy takeover due to a weak Albania
