A

“flat-topped herbs” due to an umbellate flower head. tiny individual flowers are 5 parted with a very reduced or absent calyx(sepals). compound umbels are arranged into smaller umbels called “umbellules.” outer flowers in umbel may be irregular, such as in carrot, which may attract pollinators
Umbellifer leaves are alternately arranged and usually deep-lobed or divided, sometimes pinnate or fern-like. they vary in size but often release a strong aroma when crushed
