bully pulpit
A method of organizing a president’s staff in which several task forces, committes, and informal groups of friends and advisers deal directly with the president
A bully pulpit was needed in regard to the controversial case.
cabinet
An advisory group selected by the president to aid in making decisions
The President’s cabinet was initially very small until they appointed more members.
executive agreements
an agreement between the United States and a foreign government that is less formal than a treaty and is not subject to the constitutional requirement for ratification by two-thirds of the U.S. Senate
An executive agreement was made because the President did not believe that he would have enough votes from the Senate.
Executive office of the President
Established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt by executive order under the Reorganization Act of 1939, it currently consists of eleven staff agencies that assist the president in carrying out major duties
The Executive Office of the president offers guidance/information on major key decisions.
Executive order
A rule or regulation issued by the president that has the effect of law. Executive orders can implement and give administrative effect to provisions in the Constitution, to treaties, and to statutes
Trump tried to issue an Executive Order to secure funding for the wall.
Executive Privilege
The right of the executive officials to refuse to appear before, or to withhold information from, a legislative committee. Executive privilege is enjoyed by the president and by those executive officials accorded that right by the president
The President used his Executive Privilege so he didn’t have to speak on the issue.
First Lady
Not official government position, but have always tended to focus on a single issue and can sometimes gain attention by playing important roles as advisors to their husbands
The current First Lady is one of only two, to have not been born in the U.S.
inherent powers
A power of the president derived from the loosely worded statement in the Constitution
The President has certain inherent powers that they use to their advantage.
League of Nations
an international organization formed in 1920 to promote cooperation and peace among nations
The League of Nations was not favored by Congress.
Office of Management and Budget
main functions are to assist the president in preparing the annual budget, to clear and coordinate all department agency budgets, to help set fiscal policy, and to supervise the administration of the federal budget.
The President looked to the Office of Management and Budget to help him eith the Nation’s finances.
Pardon
The granting of a release from the punishment or legal consequences of a crime; a pardon can be granted by the president before or after a conviction
The President issued a pardon after believing the conviction was unjustified.

The President is disliked by many people in this country.
Presidential Succession Act
1947 law enacted that provides the filling of any simultaneous vacancy of the president and vice presidnet
The Presidential Succession Act is in place if there was anything to happen to the President and Vice President
Signing statements
Occasional written comments attached to a bill signed by the president
The President provided signing statements to clarify what was meant
Twenty-Fifth Amendment
An amendment to the Constitution adopted in 1967 that establishes procedures for filling vacancies in the two top executive offices and that makes provisions for situations involving presidential disability
The 25th Amendment makes sure the position of President is always filled.
