Delaney Clause of Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act

requires the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban food additives which are found to cause or induce cancer in humans or animals as indicated by testing.
Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or superfund)
Provides a federal “superfund” to clean up uncontrolled or abandoned hazardous waste sites as well as accidents, spills, and other emergency releases of pollutants and contaminants into the environment.
Endangered Species Act (ESA)

1984 Is the principal federal law in the United States governing the disposal of solid waste and hazardous waste (aka the RCRA)
Clean Air Act (CAA)
Established primary and secondary air quality standards
Sets limits and goals to reduce mobile source air pollution and ambient air quality standards.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
1970 Ensure safe and healthful working conditions for workers by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance.
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
1976 Management of non-hazardous and hazardous solid waste including landfills and storage tanks. Set minimal standards for all waste disposal facilities and for hazardous wastes.
Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)
1974 The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is allowed to set the standards for drinking water quality and oversees all of the states, localities, and water suppliers who implement these standards
Solid Waste Disposal Act (SWDA)
1965 To find better and more efficient ways to dispose of solid waste; promotes shredding and separation of waste and burning of remaining materials to produce stream or generate electricity; promotes recycling.
Toxic Substances Control Act of
