S: Patient admitted with hot flushes and insominia on private, background of mental health, O/D
T: Review patient as nurses state refusing medication
A: spent over 20 minutes discusssing how she felt
R: Felt better, and took the medication
R: Sometimes need to talk to patients and empathize with their situation

S: Patient complaining about insomnia, had trialled temazepam, still unable to sleep.
T: Nurses concern about patient who wanted to speak to doctor
A: Review patient, went to ICU to get some Melatonin for the patient.

How do you handle stress?

What does an anaesthetic registrar do?
I’d like to split the roles of an anaesthetic registrar into
Preoperative: Assess patients during preadmission, optimize as needed, prepare drugs/equipment
Intraoperative: Airway, Breathing, Circulation. Maintenance, emergence.
Postoperative: ensure smooth recovery, PONV, pain
Ward: assist in IVC, pain, airways, regional on ward. Epidurals, Pain rounds etc
Academic - teach students, attend meetings, complete assessments
