Name the Operational Defects for the ANVIS:
A
- Flashing, flickering, or intermittent operation: Image may flicker or flash. Can occur in both or either monocular.
- Edge glow: bright area in the outer portion of the viewing area.
- Shading: Each monocular should present a full circle, if this isnt the case, shading may be present.
- Emission points: is an electrical short in the micro-channel plate caused by debris in the manufacturing process.

Name the cosmetic blemishes associated with the ANVIS:
A
- Image distortion: trees or poles appearing to wave or bend when you move your head.
- fixed pattern noise (honeycomb): blemish characterized by a hexagonal pattern in viewing area.
- Image disparity: exists when there is a difference in brightness between the two image intensifiers within the same binocular.
- Chickenwire: irregular pattern of dark lines in a field of view that is either part or entire viewing area.
- Bright spots: Signal induced blemishes in the image area, caused by a flaw in the film on the MCP.
- Output brightness variation: Areas of varying brightness in or across the image area.
- Black spots: Blemishes in an image intensifier, or dirt/debris in between the lenses.
