Antigout - Key Drugs
A
- *Allopurinol = anemia and skin (we use purell on skin for purinol)
- Prevents uric acid production through inhibition of enzyme
- Significant adverse effects: ANEMIA, FATAL SKIN CONDITIONS
- Colchicine = grab a COAT in the COLd or you’ll get an INFLAMED joint
- Reduces inflammatory response to deposits of urate crystals in joint tissue
- Monitor renal, hepatic and cardiac function and bleeding
- AEs: toxic to KIDNEYS and LIVER

Watch BUN and Creatinine and liver enzymes
Watch uric acid levels because we hope for decrease in serum level
Interactions: antibiotics and beta blockers
