Class:
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor

MoA:
Inhibition of serotonin reuptake in synapses

Indications:
Depression, OCD, GAD, PTSD

Side effects:
GI effects, hyponatremia, sexual dysfunction, suicidal thoughts, serotonin syndrome, long QT syndrome (citalopram)

Pregnancy rules:
Can increase risk of pulmonary hypertension, fluoxetine avoided in breastfeeding

Interactions:
NSAIDs, triptans, warfarin

Extra info:
Setraline best in post MI

Mirtazapine

Class:
Noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant (NaSSA)

MoA:
Antagonises alpha-2 receptors causing serotonin/noradrenaline release. Antagonises 5HT2 receptor leaving 5HT1 unopposed.

Side effects:
Weight gain, sedation

Tricyclic antidepressant

MoA:
Blocks the reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline. Added anti muscarinic, anti histamine and anti adrenergic effects.

Indications:
Depression, neuropathic pain

Side effects:
Urinary retention, drowsiness, blurred vision,** constipation**, dry mouth, long QT syndrome, postural hypotension
