Antidepressant meds Flashcards
MAOI’s
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor
Inhibit enzyme monoamine oxidase from decomposition of epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine and seratonin
MAOI meds
Isocarboxazid
Phenelzine
Tranylcypromine
atypical antidepressants
■Bupropion
■Mirtazapine
■Nefazodone
■Vortioxetine
■Vilazodone
■Trazodone
Bupropion
(Wellbutrin)—decreases reuptake of dopamine and, to a lesser extent, serotonin and norepinephrine
Mirtazapine
(Remeron)—potentiates the effects of norepinephrine and serotonin
Nefazadone
inhibits reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine by acting as an antagonist at the central 5HT2 receptor
Vortioxetine
(Trintellix)—action not well understood
Vilazodon
(Viibryd)—partial agonist at serotonergic 5HT1A receptors
