ANS Flashcards
sympathetic chain ganglia
in sympathetic trunk that extends from C1 to coccyx
prevertebral ganglia
anterior to L1-5 and the abdominal aorta
associated with arteries of ab aorta (celiac, superior, inferior mesenteric)
SNS preganglion cell bodies
T1-L3 form IML
SNS postganglion cell bodies
sympathetic chain and prevertebral ganglia
SNS function
increase: HR, FoC
dilates: bronchi, coronary arteries, muscle arteries; pupils
constricts: arteries to skin and gut, relaxes gut
PNS preganglion cell bodies
S2-S4; CN III, VII, IX, X
PNS postganglion cell bodies
terminal ganglia (in/at organ)
PNS function
decreases HR, blood pressure, constricts the other stuff
Sympathetic innerv only
sweat glands, medulla of adrenal, arrector pili
vagus nerve innerv.
thoracic viscera, most of gut
sacral nerves innerv
pelvic organs and large intestine distal to colic flexure
splanchnic nerves
SNS
emerge at T5-L2 to innervate preaortic ganglia (anterior to abdominal aorta)
how many white rami pairs does SNS preganglion axons send?
15
how many white rami pairs do SNS postganglion axons send
31
what rami do C1-C8, and L4-Coccyx have
