identify triggers and make aware of irrational cognitions

learn techniques to deal with triggers
- cognitive = promote calmness
- behavioural = communication skill
- physiological = relaxation skills
Practice
Role play with therapist then real life

KEEN
- young offenders aged 17-21
- 2 months, 8 x 2 hours sessions
- self report = high self awareness of own triggers
AO3 + long benefits
Tackles causes
- give offender new insight into cause and managing techniques
AO3 - not long term
Helps in short term but may not help cope in real world situations so may not reduce reoffending
AO3 - expensive
- require highly trained specialists
- many prisons don’t have resources to implement
- takes time and commitment
