Anesthesia Role Flashcards
How do you calculate the reservoir bag used?
75 mL x BW
When placing the catheter, what should the oxygen be placed at for pre-oxygenation?
2ml/min for at least 3 minutes
Where do you put the pulse oximeter?
on the dogs tongue, lips or ear
Where do you place the ECG electrodes?
White -> right forelimb
Black -> left forelimb
Red -> left hindlib
What is the normal dog HR?
80-120 bpm
Normal RR?
11-34 breaths
Normal MAP?
SAP?
DAP/
70-130
90-160
40-60
What do we do if our patient is bradycardic?
-asses patient, decrease depth, atropine, epinephrine
What do we do if they are in 1st, 2nd or 3rd AV block?
decrease depth
What do we do if they are tachycardic?
-assess patient, increase depth, adress undelrying issue
How do we treat ventricular tachycardia
Hr is greater than 160 with 3 VPC, use lidocaine
What do we do if they are asystole?
turn off vaporizor and start CPR
what do we do if they are hypertensive?
asses patient, increase depth, address apin
what if they are hypotensive?
asses patient, decrease depth, fluid bolus, ephedrine IV
Hypoventilating?
asses patient, adjust depth, manual ventilate
what do we do if they are hyperventilating?
asses patient, incrase depth
If they are not breathign at all?
check ETT, pop off valve and dru doses, turn off vaporizro, reverse drugs
If they are hypoxemic (Spo2 less than 95%
preoxygenate, mechanical ventilation, reversal agent
If they are hypothermic?
minmize heat loss with blankets, actively warm with bear hugger
What is the noraml ETCO2
35-45
Temperature
99-102.5
What are complications that can occur with eutbation?
hypoxemia, hypoventilation, aspiration
Normal SpO2?
greater than 97%
What kind of drug is atropine?
what is it used for?
when do we never give?
used for?
anti-cholinergic
increase HR
if animal has glaucoma
