ANATOMY- The Liver Flashcards
What are the two ANATOMICAL sections of the Liver?
Right Hepatic Lobe
Left Hepatic Lobe
ANATOMICAL LIVER LOBES
How is the Liver Differentiated/Divided PHYSIOLOGICALLY?
What is its Significance?
- The liver is divided Physiologically Through the GALL BLADDER and IVC Fossa into the RIGHT and LEFT LOBES
- Each lobe can be Separated into FOUR Segments (TOTAL OF 8 SEGMENTS)
-Each Segment receives its individual supply from Branches of the: PORTAL VEIN, HEPATIC ARTERY and BILIARY DRAINAGE.
- This allows SEGMENTED LIVER RESECTION
PHYSIOLOGICAL LOBES/SEGMENTS
What is the CAUDATE LOBE of the Liver?
Located on the POSTERIOSUPERIOR part of the Liver
Lies between the IVC and a Fossa produced by the LIGAMENTUM VENOSUM
CAUDATE LOBE
What is the QUADRATE LOBE of the Liver?
Area Located between the GALLBLADDER and a Fossa produced by the LIGAMENTUM TERES
QUADRATE LOBE
Caudate and Quadrate Liver Lobes
What is the FALCIFORM LIGAMENT?
Double Layer of Peritoneum which attaches the Anterior Surface of the Liver to the Anterior Abdominal Wall (Peritoneum of the Rectus Abdominis)
It divides the Liver into Anatomical Right and Left Lobes
FALCIFORM LIGMAMENT
What does the FALCIFORM LIGAMENT develop from?
- Remnant of the Ventral Mesentery of the Fetus
What is Found in the Free Edge of the FALCIFORM LIGAMENT?
LIGAMENTUM TERES
Where does the LIGAMENTUM TERES come from?
Remnant of the UMBILICAL VEIN
LIGAMENTUM TERES
What Structure connects the LIVER to the UMBILICUS?

Hepatic Artery Proper
Which artery supplies the Liver by entering the Portal Hepatis- The Common Hepatic Artery or Hepatic Artery Proper?
Hepatic Artery Proper
What is the Dominant Blood Supply of the Liver?
Hepatic Portal Vein (75%)
Hepatic Artery Proper (25%)
What is the Venous Drainage of the Liver?
