Anatomy - Lower Limb - Vessels Flashcards
1
Q
Superficial lymph vessels
A
- those that drain the lateral foot and the posterolateral leg: accompany the short saphenous vein and drain to popliteal nodes then via deep lymph vessels to inguinal nodes
- those that drain the other areas drain to superficial inguinal lymph nodes
- superficial inguinal lymph nodes drain vua saphenous hiatus to deep inguinal and external iliac lymph nodes
2
Q
Deep inguinal lymph nodes
A
- drain to nodes associated with vessels in abdomen - external iliac nodes, common iliac nodes and lateral aortic nodes
3
Q
Femoral triangle
A
- bondaries: inguinal ligament, medial border of sartorius and med border of adductor longus
- floor: iliopsoas, pectineus, adductor longus
- Roof: deep fascia
- Contents: NAVEL (lateral to medial)
- femoral artery and vein vulnerable to traumatic injury
4
Q
Adductor canal
A
- boundaries: adductor longus and magnus, vastus medialis, sartorius and fascia
- contents: femoral artery and vein, saphenous neruve
5
Q
Popliteal fossa
A
- boundaries: hamstrings, gastrocnemius
- Floor: popliteal surface of femur, capsule of knee joint, popliteus muscle
- contents: poplitreal artery/vein, tibial nerve, common fibular nerve, termination of small saphenous vein, poplitreal lymph nodes
- Roof: deep fascia
6
Q
Swelling in popliteal fossa
A
- baker’s cyst
- aneurism of popliteal artery
- enlarged popliteal lymph nodes
