Anatomy Lab Week 2 Flashcards
Long head of biceps brachii m. Origin
Supraglenoid tubercle above the glenoid cavity of the scapula . Makes sharp turn at humeral head and continues course in intertubercular suculus.
Long head of biceps brachii m. Insertion
Unites with short head of biceps brachii at anterior side of humerus and attaches to radial tuberosity
Distal end inserts at deep fascia of forearm
Long head of biceps brachii m. Action
Abduction of arm, inward rotation, flexion, supination
Long head of biceps brachii m. Innvertation and blood supply
Musculocutaneous nerve (C5-C6), branch of brachial plexus Many arteries
Short head of biceps brachii m. Origin
Arises at apex of Coracoid process of scapula, partly blends with origin tendon of the coracobrachialis
Short head of biceps brachii m. Insertion
Attach to Anterior side of humerus to radial tuberosity with the long head. Distal part inserts deep into fascia of forearm
Short head of biceps brachii m. Action
Adduction of arm, flexion of arm, flexion of elbow, supination
Short head of biceps brachii m. Innervation and blood supply
Supplied by musculocutaneous nerve (C5-C6), branch of brachial plexus
Many arterial branches
Brachialis m. Origin
Distal half of anterior surface of humerus
Brachialis m. Insertion
Coronoid process of the ulna, tuberosity of ulna
Brachialis m. Action
Strong flexion of forearm at elbow joint
Brachialis m. Innervation and blood supply
Musculocutaneous nerve (C5-C6), radial nerve (C7) Brachial artery, radial recurrent artery
Brachioradialis m. Origin
Lateral supracondylar ridge of humerus, lateral inter muscular septum of arm
Brachioradialis m. Insertion
Proximal to styloid process of radius
Brachioradialis m. Action
BrachioRadialis follows the BR rule
It’s the Beer mug Raising muscle (flexes elbow, strongest when wrist is held for holding a beer mug)
Brachioradialis m. Innervation and blood supply
Radial nerve (C5-C6) Radial artery, radial recurrent arteries, radial collateral artery
Coracobrachialis m. Origin
Coracoid process of scapula
Coracobrachialis m. Insertion
Anteromedial surface of humeral shaft
Coracobrachialis m. Action
Adduction and flexion of arm at shoulder joint
Coracobrachialis m. Innervation and blood supply
Muscular branches of brachial artery
Pectoralis major m. Origin
Clavicular part: anterior surface of medial half of clavicle
Sternocostal part: anterior surface of sternum, costal cartilages of ribs 1-6
Abdominal part: anterior layer or rectus sheath
Pectoralis major m. Insertion
Crest of greater tubercle of humerus
Pectoralis major m. Action
Shoulder joint: arm adduction, arm internal rotation, arm flexion (clavicular head), arm extension (sternocostal head)
Scapulothoracic joint: draws scapula anterior inferiorly
Pectoralis major m. Innervation and blood supply
Lateral and medial pectoral nerves (C5-T1)
Pectoral branches of thoracoacromial artery, perforating branches of internal thoracic artery
