What is Physiology?
The study of the function of an organism
What is the Coronal plane?
Also known as the frontal plane. The coronal plane cutes the body vertically into anterior and posterior
What is the name of the pink plane?
Sagittal plane
What is the name of the yellow plane?
Transverse plane
What is the name of the green plane?
Coronal or frontal plane
What is the Sagittal plane?
Also known as the midsagittal plane.
The sagittal plane cuts the body vertically into left and right
What is the Transverse Plane?
Also known as the axial plane.
The Transverse plane cuts the body horizontally into superior and inferior
What is superior and inferior?
Superior is above and inferior is below
What is anterior and posterior?
anterior is front and posterior is back
what is ventral and dorsal?
ventral is underside and dorsal is upperside (i.e. dorsal fin)
What is central and peripheral?
Central is located centrally and peripheral is located in the periphery
What is superficial and deep?
superficial is closer to the surface and deep is further from the surface
what is proximal and distal?
proximal is closer to the trunk and distal is further from the trunk
what is contra and ipsi?
contra is opposite side and ipsi is same side
what is medial and lateral?
medial is closer to the midline and lateral is further from the midline
what is extrinsic and intirnsic?
extrinsic is coming from the outside and intrinsic is coming from within
what is infra/sub/hypo and supra?
ifra/sub/hypo is below and supra is above
what is intra and extra
intra is situated within or inside, and extra is situated outside
what is prefix ary-?
pertaining to the arytenoid cartilage
what is costal?
pertaining to the ribs
what is prefix crico-?
pertaining to the cricoid cartilage
what is prefix genio-?
pertaining to the chin
what is prefix glosso or suffix glossus?
pertaining to the tongue
what is prefix hyo-?
pertaining to the hyoid bone
what is prefix labio-?
pertaining to the lips
what is laryngo-?
pertaining to the larynx
