Claus von Clausevitz, Prussian military strategist, warned against unlimited violence as war is just a continuation of political activity.
Eisenhower questioned in 1954 what would be done in a world after nuclear war.

A
  • Promote ideology to Third World 50s.
  • Technological advancements = success.
  • Khrushchev tells Prime Minister’s wife in 1956 nuclear bombs are capable of hitting Britain. U-R photos show no lead, but Kennedy out of fear spends £50b on military expense by 1962.

  • Armaments groups gain influence. 1964 USSR attempts to cut arms spending resisted.
  • US money to scientists, manufacturers, and armed forces. 30 million with jobs. Eisenhower couldn’t avoid military-industrial complex.
