amounts of substance Flashcards
what is the equations linking moles , volume and concentration
moles= concentration x volume
what is the equation for percentage yield
actual yield/theoretical yield x 100
what is the equation linking mass, MR and moles
moles= mass/Mr
what is the equation for atom economy
atom economy= desired reactants/all reactants x 100
equation linking moles, avagadros constant and number of partivles
number of particles= moles x avagadros constant
what is the ideal gas equation and units
pV=nRT
p- pascals
V- metres cubed
n- moles
R- ideal gas constant
T- K
how do you convert celcius to kelvins
+273
how do you convert kPa to Pa
x1000
how do you convert from cm cubed to metres cubed
divide by 1,000,000
what are the economic advantages of have a high atom economy
Economic advantages- the company have less waste to deal with which costs money to dispose of safely
stops a lot of money being wasted on by products
what are the moral advantages of having a high atom economy
Cheaper to make products so medicines can be cheaper which means they are more available to people
what are the environmental advantages of having a high atom economy
Processes that use fewer raw materials and produce less waste are better for the environment.
Tends to be more sustainable than using a low atom economy processes.
how do you calculate empirical formula
- work out how many moles of each element you have
- divide each molar value by the smallest molar number
- apply numbers from the ratio to the formula and if they arent near whole numbers multiply them up
