Serious gram negative infections for example bacteraemia, endocarditis, neutropenic sepsis

How do aminoglycosides work
A
They prevent translation of mRNA into proteins.

State the risks of using aminoglycosides
A
Toxic to the kidney and the 8th cranial nerve so should be careful monitoring of serum concentrations.
