Mechanism of action
Prolongs the duration of the action potential and the effective refractory period
How supplied
50mg/mL vials
Adult dosage unresponsive to CPR, shocks, and epinephrine
300mg IV/IO push. If needed, second dose of 150mg IV/IO push.
Adult dosage life threatening dysrhythmias
Rapid infusion: 150mg IV over first 10 minutes(15mg/min) q 10 minutes if VT recurs.
Pediatric Dose refractory VF, pulseless VT
5mg/kg rapid IV/IO bolus;Max single dose 300mg
Pediatric dose perfusing supraventricular and ventricular dysrhythmias
Loading dose 5mg/kg IV/IO over 20-60 minutes; max single dose 300mg
Special considerations
Rapid infusion may cause hypotension; continuous ECG monitoring required. Slow infusion or discontinue if bradycardia or AV block occurs. Maintain at room temp and protect from excessive heat
