Q

Discuss the sources of amino acids in the protein pool and what they are used for?

A

Amino acids come from the diet and recycling of proteins, they are used to make new proteins i.e capillary structure or muscle filaments

Q

Why do some proteins get converted into acetyl-coa or TCA intermediates?

A

As their breakdown releases energy- amino acids can be used to make hormones and an array of other proteins - recycling!

-This hopefully ensures that all proteins remain fresh

Q

Why is there variation in the time it takes for proteins to be synthesized?

A

Protein synthesis requires DNA->RNA->Proteins but the difference is that regulatory proteins are small and readily made while structural proteins take time to produce
