  • 1st formal proposal to unite the colonies
  • plan caled for each colony to send representatives to a grand council
  • council would be able to collect taxes, raise armies, and start new settlements
  • leaders supported but later turned down bc they didnt want to give up controls of their own affairs

sugar act - placed taxes on certain imports that had not been taxed/taxes were raised w/o contacting the colonists
stamp act - put tax on documents such as wills,newspapers, and playing cards/stamp would be put on item, costs money/colonists didnt want to pay for something previously free
quartering act-outlined location and conditions which brit soldiers are to find room and board in the colonies/brits decided to keep 10000 soldiers in colonies
