what did the albany plan of union do and why was it defeated by legislature?
- 1st formal proposal to unite the colonies
- plan caled for each colony to send representatives to a grand council
- council would be able to collect taxes, raise armies, and start new settlements
- leaders supported but later turned down bc they didnt want to give up controls of their own affairs
why was battle of quebec the turning point of the war
- quebec was capitol of new france
- brits defeated them in battle
- brits gained control of most of canada
- after battle the rest quickly fell
describe land claim of north america based on the treaty of paris after french/indian war
- britain claimed all of north america east of mississippi river
- france gave spain new orleans and louisiana as reward for helping them

describe boston massacre
- boston erupted in bloody clashes during tax protest
- mob taunted brit soldiers and 5 colonists were killed, including black man crispus attucks
- made them even more aggravated w/each other

describe three acts forced on the colonists
sugar act - placed taxes on certain imports that had not been taxed/taxes were raised w/o contacting the colonists
stamp act - put tax on documents such as wills,newspapers, and playing cards/stamp would be put on item, costs money/colonists didnt want to pay for something previously free
quartering act-outlined location and conditions which brit soldiers are to find room and board in the colonies/brits decided to keep 10000 soldiers in colonies

stamp - boycotted british goods/formed secret societies/SOL burned stamped paper/attacked cuatoms officials by covering them in hot tar and feathers
