- Anaphylactic shock – IM or SC (life-saving drug!)
- Cardiac arrest – directly into the heart
- Prolongation of local anesthesia – added to solutions of the local anesthetics

combines direct action (activation of alpha- and beta-adrenoceptors and indirect action

Do not bind to adrenoceptors, but increase release of norepinephrine to the synaptic cleft or inhibit reuptake of norepinephrine (cocaine).
