-Activation of reward circuit (binds with 5-HT3 receptors)

-Abnormal eye movements and nystagmus
-Clumsiness and tremor (sensory neuropathy)
-Delirium
-Reversible with Thiamine
This irreversible condition is caused by chronic alcohol abuse and is characterized by confabulation, memory loss, and polyneuropathy
Korsakoff’s psychosis
When do you give thiamine?
Before giving glucose (e.g. dextrose)
