What are VFR transition routes & VFR flyaways, and how are they different?
VFR Flyaways
- Keep you clear of B airspace
- Doesn’t require ATC clearance
- Shows as blue shaded arrows on TAC chart
VFR Transition Routes_
- Requires ATC clearance
- Takes you through the B airspace
- Shows as open magenta arrows
Describe special VFR clearance:
- Must be requested by Pilot. ATC will never offer unless pilot asks for it
- Must maintain 1SM visibility and remain clear of clouds
- Must hold at least a PPL (during the day), if at night, the pilot must be IRA and plane must be IFR equipped
