Air Management Flashcards
List the items that use bleed air.
Environmental control system (ECS), engine start, engine, wing and horizontal stab anti-ice, cargo heat (optional), main cabin door pressurization seal.
When is the cabin temp control transferred to the VIP seat panel?
When detention C is selected with the PAX CABIN temp control knob on the overhead panel.
In the event of a bleed leak detection, what light will illuminate in addition to an associated CAS message?
The amber light in either the PAC, BLEED 1, BLEED 2 or APU BLEED button.
When is the Outflow Valve (OFV) indication on Environmental Control System (ECS) synoptic page displayed?
Only on the ground.
What are the potential sources of bleed air that the Pneumatic System Controller (PSC) can automatically select from?
Engines, APU and external air.
Is it possible to have bleed from the APU and engines simultaneously?
No.
During normal operations on the ground and for taxi, what is the primary source of bleed air?
APU.
What is the primary source of bleed air in flight?
Engines.
When will the bleed air source be automatically transitioned to the engines?
Takeoff roll with TLA greater than 50 degrees.
The XBSOV is automatically commanded to close for what conditions?
Bleed leak, over pressure, engine fire, or if a failure condition is identified.
Can the external ground connection be used to supply pressurized air for engine start?
Yes.
If an external pneumatic power source is being used and is not adjustable, what range should the pressure supply be in?
Between 32 and 60 psi.
When is fast cooling enabled on hot days and fast warming enabled on cold days?
When the difference between cockpit/cabin temp set point and cockpit/cabin zone temp is equal to or higher than 6c.
What happens to the recirculation fan during fast cooling and fast warming?
Automatically sets a higher speed to optimize performance.
If the air conditioning pack fails what does the PSC automatically do?
It engages the the pack backup operational mode and controls cabin and cockpit temperature.
What is ram air ventilation used for?
Non-pressurized flight or smoke evacuation.
When will the PSC command the emergency RAM air door to open?
In case of loss of the air condition PACK and the PACK backup system.
How can the emergency RAM air door be manually commanded to open?
The DUMP button on the PRESSURIZATION control panel.
How is the cargo heating system operated?
Automatically by the PSC.
When is the cabin door pressurization seal inflated?
After takeoff.
How can the outflow valve be modulated?
Automatically or manually.
What position are the Negative Pressure Relief Valve and Pressure Relief Valve (NPRV/PRV) normally in?
Closed
What does pushing in the MODE selector button on the PRESSURIZATION panel allow for?
Manual control of the pressurization system through the CABIN ALT knob.
What is the cabin altitude rate of change when moving the CABIN ALT knob up or down?
50 fpm steps.
What happens when the DUMP button is pressed in the automatic mode of operation?
The cabin altitude is depressurized at a constant rate of 2000 fpm up to 12,000 ft cabin alt, and fresh air enters the cabin via emergency ram air supply.
What happens when the DUMP button is pressed in the manual mode of operation?
The valve will be commanded to full open (it will not limit the cabin rate of change) until either the command is removed or the altitude-limit function disables it when the cabin altitude reaches 14800 ft ±200 ft. Emergency ram air supply is opened.
What is the maximum differential pressure for a 6,000 ft cabin altitude? For a 5,800 ft cabin altitude?
9.64 psid and 9.73 psid.
What is the maximum differential overpressure?
10.4 psid.
What is the maximum differential negative pressure?
-0.5 psid.
What is the maximum differential pressure for takeoff and landing?
0.2 psid.
