Air Conditioning Flashcards
What bleed sources can be used for ECS?
Engines, APU below 20,000, and ground cart on ground.
Aside from an air source, what else is required for operation of the ECS system?
DC power
Describe how bleed air is cooled in the ECS system.
Bleed air is first cooled by fan air. From the main manifold air will flow into the PACK where it will pass through 2 heat exchangers a compressor and a turbine. Air exiting the ACM should be near 35ºF.
How is cabin temperature normally maintained?
Trim air valves will mix hot bleed air and cold air from the ACM to get temperature. Normally the AMSC will command trim valves to adjust temp.
In the event of a malfunction involving the AMSC how can the cabin/cockpit air be controlled?
MAN Temp Control will let you manually adjust trim air valves.
