Air Conditioning Flashcards
The air conditioning system is controlled by a computer called ACSC it is a 2 Chanel system that
Receives input from cockpit controls and air sensors throughout the aircraft. With this info it determines which zone requires the coldest air. It then adjust the packs accordingly and can signal APU or engines to increase speed to satisfy bleed air requirements.
air conditioning may be monitored from Multiple pages within the SD
COND
BLEED
CRUISE
CAB PRESS
Pack Regulators control the
Pack flow control valve
And packs by adjusting the demand temperature by the ACSC.
Also monitor for pack malfunctions and can close the flow control valve is necessary.
Pack regulators has how many Chanel’s?
Primary and secondary Chanel
If using secondary Chanel pac ops become limited. If sec fails the pack regulator cannot control the packs.
If they both fail you will have Amber xx on lees page.
What causes the pack flow control valve to close?
Selecting start on an engine
Eng Fire pb is selected
DITCHING pb selected
Lack of airflow- valves are spring loaded closed
Pack over heat.
If APU is not being used in preflight the pack pb will display ______
Fault
Pack flow selector low/normal/high.
When do we automatically operate on hi flow rate?
Low 80%
Normal 100%
Hi 120%
Operating on single pack
APU is sole source.
When does pack air inlet and outlets flaps for the ACM close or open?
Close during Takeoff and Landing
Turbine bypass valve controls the temperature of the air coming out of the?
ACM
Mixing unit mixes what air?
Conditioned bleed air and Cabin air
The only indication of shutting down the cabin fans is the
White off light on the pb in the ventilation overhead section.
LP conditioned air from an external source can be used to cool the aircraft on the ground. Where does air go too?
Mixing unit thenonto 3 zones.
Do not use with air from the packs.
LP external air is not displayed on the SD so to make sure you have it
Ask ground personnel
Listen to airflow through vents
Check for moderate temps on COND air page.
Emergency Ram air is opened by pressing the button in air conditioning.
Emergency Ram Air inlet flows to what?
If both pack fail or we need smoke elimination.
Mixing unit then to the 3 zones.
Ram Air Inlet can be used
If primary Chanel fails it defaults to the secondary Chanel if that Chanel fails the packs will produce a steady temperature. Where can this info be found?
ECAM (PACK REG) on conditioned page
